Guidance and Counseling Unit
Guidance and Counseling office has a purpose to give services for students on issues that affect their learning-teaching process. The services can be giving orientations (guidance) , advising( counseling), supplying information, keeping records of students and assessing student needs in their overall wellbeing.
Duties and Responsibilities of Guidance & Counseling Unit
The duties and responsibilities of guidance and counseling unit is assisting students on their overall wellbeing in their academic performance and psychological readiness by creating conducive learning & social environment. Hence; in its preventive approach orientation programmes are arranged for new students on the following points:
- To get information about the university
- To set their goals
- To easily adjust in the campus
- To be optimistic in their life
- To have effective time management
- Not to miss class attendances
- To know that learning teaching process is student centered and participatory
- To use effective study habits
- To know that evaluation of their performances on academic matters are more of continuous assessment and a few of final examinations that can be finalized by criterion- referenced type of grading that is based on mastery of objectives of learning by the learner.
In its curative approach different personal psychological, academic and social problems of the individuals are the major areas of concern in the office. Students coming to the office are getting solutions as they reported in the follow up and termination procedure of counseling to the guidance & counseling officer.
