Duties, Responsibilities
Following the recent amendment & endorsement of The Ethiopian Civil Service University (ECSU) legislation (2017), the former ‘Quality Assurance Unit’ of the University is legally named as “ Institutional Quality Assurance Directorate (IQAD) “ and being made accountable to the President of the University.
IQAD has three coordination offices and these are:
1. Education Quality Assurance Coordination Team
2. Training and Consultancy Quality Assurance Coordination Team
3. Administrative & Student Affairs Quality Assurance Coordination Team
As per the ECSU Legislation (2017) article 44; the Institutional Quality Assurance Directorate (IQAD) shall be accountable to the President and have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day activities of the Directorate;
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual plans and reports and present it to the President;
- Develop quality assurance management systems to ensure constant and continuous improvement of the teaching, research, training, consultancy and administrative activities in the University;
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of quality standards by schools, institutes, departments, colleges, centers and directorates;
- Coordinate the internal and external review of the quality of teaching, research, training, consultancy and administrative activities of schools, institutes, departments, colleges, centers and directorates;
- Carry out annual satisfaction surveys of students and employees;
- Organize seminars and workshops on quality assurance;
- Disseminate best practices on quality assurance; and
- Perform other duties that may be assigned to him by the President or the Senate.
