Services and Facilities at DLC

The center offers wide range of demand driven short term certificate based training programs to public servants at federal and regional levels using Woreda Net (District Net) Videoconferencing technology in Change Management, Leadership Development, Strategic Planning & Management, Business Process Re-engineering. Similar programs are planned to be offered to other regions in the country including Ethics, Benchmarking, Balanced Score Card, Project Planning, Implementation & Monitoring, Financial Management, Service Delivery and Policy Formulation & Analysis to mention few.

 

Woreda Net (District Net) program in addition to the existing short term training courses shall offer other programs to address demand the public service sector in a sustainable manner.

 

E-learning refers to the use of computer-based electronic technologies of Internet, e-mail, websites and CD-ROMs to deliver, facilitate and enhance both formal and informal learning and knowledge sharing at any time, any place and pace.

E-Learning represents an innovative shift in the field of learning, providing rapid access to specific knowledge and information. It offers online instruction that can be delivered anytime and anywhere through a wide range of electronic learning solutions such as Web-based courseware, online discussion groups, live virtual classes, video and audio streaming, Web chat, online simulations, and virtual mentoring.

Recognizing the potential of providing trainings using e-leaning technologies, the Ethiopian Civil Service University has identified, developed and implemented training programs in three subject areas: Procurement, Human Resource Management (HRM) and in Basics Computer skills. The center has an intention to diversify these programs and will be delivered online to public servants at regional and federal levels. Currently the University has started offering two online web-based courses, Procurement and Human Resource Management. Interested institutions or individuals can access details on the University web-site to join the program.

Interactive VSAT based Videoconferencing Technology:

Multidisciplinary capacity enhancement courses, seminars and dialogues geared to development and in the fight against poverty has been allover the world with this technology. Participants will have a unique opportunity to share experiences, ideas, knowledge and exchange information from various countries participating simultaneously over videoconferencing.

Multi-Media facility:

Equipped with 66 Computers with high speed VSAT based internet connection, the center hosts various E-learning (web-based) as well as face-to-face application training programs comfortably. In the past eight to ten years several public and international organizations had the experience to use the facility for wide ranging applications to build capacity of their staff. Users seeking ideal set up for computer based trainings usually come to the center to see their dream realized. Moreover, the wireless connection provides users with flexible surfing of the globe instantly.  

Two Training Rooms (Breakout Rooms):

Accommodates 20 participants each. Ideal for instructor-led trainings and meetings. Videoconferencing programs can also be projected to the breakout rooms when necessary.
