How is the University financed?
The majority of the funding comes from the federal Governments. Our partners also contribute funds for particular initiatives. Income generation through short courses etc also plays an increasing part in our income.
Who can apply to come on a course at the University?
If you are a civil servant then you are eligible. We particularly wish to see more applications from women and those civil servants who live in the emerging regions of Afar, Gambella, Somali and Benishangul-Gamuz.
How do I apply to come on a course at the ECSU?
You need to speak to your line manager at your place of work. Approval needs to be arranged and then you may sit the entrance examination. The region where you live nominates people to sit the entrance examination. See " Application Procedure " section.
Who pays the University fees?
Normally, the student contributes birr 75.00 a month and the balance is made up by the region where the student works.

Does the ECSU teach politics?
No, it does not teach politics.
What accommodation is there for students at the University?
All full time students are provided with accommodation on site. Some students who come on short courses are also provided with accommodation. Extension students live off site.
What cafeteria facilities are there for students at the University?
There are two cafeterias for students and two student lounges.
