Description

This program addresses the critical need for efficient customs administration to support economic development and national security. It aims to combat issues like corruption and fraud within customs systems, which significantly hinder public revenue generation. The Ethiopian government is implementing reforms to modernize customs practices, focusing on transparency and efficiency. The program is designed to equip civil servants with the necessary skills to manage customs operations effectively, aligning with international standards and contributing to the country’s economic growth.

  • Design efficient customs administration systems emphasizing good governance.
  • Strengthen legal knowledge for compliance with local and international customs regulations.
  • Manage customs functions including valuation, clearance, and auditing.
  • Enhance IT skills for effective customs operations.
  • Conduct research to improve customs practices and policies.

Prerequisites & Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant fields (Accounting, Economics, Management, etc.).
  • Pass an entrance examination.
  • Employer recommendation letter.

  • Apply technical and professional standards while adhering to laws, regulations, and codes of conduct.
  • Provide input for designing the customs structure and administrative systems through reform and modernization efforts.
  • Develop skills necessary for designing the customs administrative structure.

  • Analyze that all international agreements related with customs administration are abided by the customs practitioners.

  • Develop intelligence and risk management systems to minimize tax fraud and evasion.
