The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Development Economics program at the Ethiopian Civil Service University is designed to prepare students for advanced research in the field. Prerequisites & Requirements

Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Economics program must have a minimum of two years of experience in the public or private sector after obtaining a Master’s degree. They need to provide a recommendation from their employer or a sponsor letter and must be 50 years old or younger. Eligible candidates should hold an MPhil or MSc/MA in economics or related fields from a recognized institution. If statistics were studied at the Master’s level, they may need to complete specified bridging courses. Required documents include copies of degrees, certificates, and transcripts (along with certified English translations if applicable). Admission is determined by an entrance exam assessing knowledge in advanced economics topics, a publication record (with at least one publication in indexed journals), a well-structured research proposal, and an interview that evaluates the candidate's experience and research contributions.
