"Success is not a windfall. It is a reward that attends hard work!" Dr.Hilemicheal Abera president of ECSU made this remark on 7 May 2012 addressing 62 female students drawn from four emerging regional states that joined the university to study public management, taking an entrance examination.
ECSU's Ethics Liaison Office conducted an awareness deepening training on corruption for over 60 employees drawn from different administrative echelons and support units of the university on 13 May 2012.
The workshop was aimed at driving home the concept of corruption, its types, causes, faces, repercussions and ways of combating it. It as well set as a goal galvanizing participants towards contributing their share in the campaign lunched to fight out corrupt practices in the university as well as the country.
Presenting a paper Ethics Liaison Officer Ato Haile Abebe said
"I am confident ethical globalization this time has a human face!"
Professor D.K. Mishra a renowned Indian Economist made this remark at a public lecture he delivered on 4 May 2012 at the Renaissance hall of ECSU's main campus under the theme "Globalization, Yes? Or Globalization, No? -: The New Century's Major Economic Issue with Some Reference to Ethiopia."
Peer education is said to be decisive in combating peer influence that creates a hotbed for the spread of HIV/AIDS in a university setting, including ECSU. To dismantle the network of the virus' spread, focusing on peer groups is also mentioned one of the agendas in the growth and transformation goals of the country.
These were disclosed in a discussion and debate forum ECUS' HIV/AIDS Management Unit jointly held with DKT and ' Timeret Le Hiwot' at Abay hall on 25 April 2012 under the theme 'Peer Influence and Vulnerability to HIV/AIDS.'
Ensuring good governance, fighting corruption, upgrading the efficiency of service delivery, promoting democracy and catalyzing development are mentioned unthinkable goals if cloaked with secrecy and covertness.
As the government's move towards ensuring transparency and accountability leans on the proclamation providing for access to information, the call for understanding the law, internalizing it through discussion and bracing up for its implementation are also mentioned crucial.
