Topic: Gender Advocacy and Lobbying
Background: Despite the legal and institutional frameworks that promote women’s rights and gender equality in Ethiopia, often a gender agenda is side-lined in public policy discourses and at implementation levels. This makes gender advocacy and lobbying important to get the interests of women represented and considered in organisational policies and practices. Therefore, this is training target professional who would like to engage in gender advocacy and lobbying.
Objectives: At the end of the training, trainees will be able to
- identify the difference between advocacy and lobbying
- explain the cycles of advocacy and lobbying
- elaborate the steps of advocacy and lobbying
- state the factors affecting advocacy and lobbying activities
Content: Includes – definition and concepts of advocacy and lobbying; advocacy campaign planning and cycles; advocacy and lobbying steps; qualities of a lobbyist; and factors affecting advocacy and lobbying activities (contents will be adopted based on organisational context and interest).
Duration: 2 days
