Title: Gender Sensitive Research Methodology
Background: As it has been long discussed by feminist and gender scholars, research methodology is gendered. Gender sensitive research methodology is an approach to research that places gender at the centre of knowledge production process and pays attention to the different lived-experiences and viewpoints of men and women. The training aims to provide participants the tool how to apply gender as a key variable in the research process.
Objectives: At the end of the training, trainees will be able to
- describe what gender sensitive research mean
- identify different epistemological foundations of social science research
- elaborate feminist research methods, unit of analysis
- explain gender sensitive data collection process
Content: Include- basic concepts of gender and gender research (specifically concepts of gender, power, and agency); epistemological foundations of social science research and feminist epistemology -empiricism, ; gender sensitive research method and approach (qualitative, quantitative and mixed); feminist research methods; unit of analysis (understanding intra- and inter-household relations); gender sensitive data collection process (contents will be adopted based on organisational context and interest).
