Topic: Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB)
Background: Gender responsive budgeting is a tool to ensure that gender equality commitments are reflected and realised in public budgets. It involves analysis of actual expenditures and revenues (usually of the Government) on different needs of women and girls as compared to on men and boys. Thus, participants will be provided with basic knowledge of national budget, and the way to make it gender responsive supported with global and Ethiopian experiences.
Objectives: At the end of the training, trainees are able to
- explain the rational for the need of gender budget
- describe the budget Cycle
- identify and elaborate gender budget analysis tools
Content: Includes – concept of national budget; basics of gender; gender budget (gender equality and neutrality of budget, and the nexus between gender and budget); GRB actors and Stakeholders; stages of GRB cycle; GRB approaches and tools; and international examples and case studies (contents will be adopted based on organisational context and interest)
