CREI Holds 15th In-Campus Seminar
Ethiopian Civil Service University, Center for Research in Ethics and Integrity held its 15th in- campus Seminar on March 25, 2021 at Hidasie Hall. The seminar was held with a theme “Integrity, Language and Nation-Building”
In his explanation, Dr. Takele Tadesse, the speaker in the seminar, explained the significance of having a common national language by correcting the mistaken beliefs and ideas in connection to having a national language. This must be done by holding dialogues and reaching a consensus. Lack of appropriate knowledge about language and its scientific essences has created different problems. Consequently, it is very important to identify the real problem on the ground and seeking suitable solution based on scientific researches, which in turn contributes for building a nation, Dr. Takele noted. He also gave detailed explanations for issues raised by participants by referring to various issues from his experiences.
Dr. Takele Tadesse is a well known academician, researcher and author in the field of linguistics, language and politics. In his professional life stretches for more than three decades, he has served his country in disseminating knowledge and shaping the young generation.
In another development, on the seminar, a book review has been presented on a book entitled “Practical Elements of Academic Writing for College and University Students” and written by Dr. Abraham Hagos. The book reviewers, Dr. Zerhun Doda and Dr. Kassa Teshager presented the strengths and the limitations of the book and forwarded their concluding remarks. The book, as per the final remark of the reviewers, provides an effective guidance on research and academic writing for a range of audiences, especially for students and teachers at higher learning institutions —and therefore should be used as a supportive reference for advanced research courses and seminars.
