CUDE holds proposal validation work shop
Ethiopian Civil Service University Research and Community Service under College of Urban Development and Engineering held proposal validation work shop on trajectories of Urbanization and Urban Transformation in Selected Lakeside Cities of Ethiopia: Lessons and Future Directions (The Case of Bahir Dar, Hawassa, Arbaminch,Bishoftu,Haik and Ziway Towns) on August 19,2020 at Hidasse Hall.
Dr. Daniel lirebo, Dean of College of Urban Development and Engineering, welcomed the participant. He said the agenda of the Seminar covered issues associated with the basic themes of trajectories of Urbanizations. So we request participants to contribute ideas, comments to enrich this proposal successful .Surly, this validation workshop could provide the improvement for better proposal enrichments. “As a university community, we must join in an action-oriented effort to attack and solve the problems that beset Urbanization and its Management “he underlined.
Dr. Belewu Dagnew, Deputy Dean of Research and Community Service under College of Urban Development and Engineering, said ECSU is undertaking a wide research aimed at strategies that would enable to successfully manage the transformation of lakeside cities that is engaged by the fast rate of urbanization. So we will give every support to make such research practical and to add knowledge and contribute our share for police makers as a higher education center . Besides the university enable students see practical aspects of the theoretical research ideas he underscored.
Proposals on Demographic and Spatial Growth Trends and Dynamics in Lakeside Cities, Lake Degradation and Environmental Infrastructure, Private Investment and their Impact on Livelihoods and Access to Public Spaces in Lakefront Areas, Inclusive and Participatory Planning in Lake Front Areas, Financial Distribution of the Thematic Area and Conclusion were presented respectively.
Finally the participants raised different issues and forwarded their comments in each proposal to incorporate in final draft.
