Disability Affairs Unit (DAU) Facilitates an Event
Center for Cross Cutting Issues Training and Consultancy, Disability Affairs Unit (DAU) facilitated a half day program for thirty three students of ECSU on April 17, 2016. The event consists of training, discussion and practical Session.
The students were diverse in terms of their sex, year of entry and program and most importantly in their physical disability status. The program held with objective of providing opportunity for students to socialize and work in collaboration towards making ECSU conducive for students with disability.
The program organized in three parts. During the first part, a short training was given on university students’ socialization and its benefit, in the second part students were arranged to form small groups with diversified members in each group. This gave them the chance to know each other and discuss on various social issues. Each student was then able to have new friends and introduce them to the whole group. Finally, first draft of The Disability Club’s memorandum was presented and commented by the students.
Kumneger Fikre, Head of Disability Affairs Unit and Meskelu Denkure, representative of the ad hoc committee that developed the memorandum and the facilitator of the program said that in this session Constructive comments were collected to further enrich the document and our work, besides the unit is very much grateful for the active participation of the participant and give unreserved support for the participants.
