ECSU and Ethiopian Kaizen Institute Sign Cooperation Agreement
Ethiopian Civil Service University and Ethiopian Kaizen Institute signed a mutual Cooperative Agreement on March 16, 2017 at Hidasse Hall in the presence of the Institutions Higher managements. On the occasion first level Kaizen philosophy application program has been declared in Ethiopian Civil Service University.
During the agreement professor Fikre Dessalegn Ethiopian Civil Service University President said we have laid the foundation for our future activities by giving continuous trainings to our staffs by Kaizen institute. Having this knowledge, we have now started practicing Kaizen philosophy at the university level. For this, the front liner should work harder than ever to put into practice what you gained from the trainings. Use the available resources and make the environment suitable for work and bring an overall transformation in the university, professor Fikre Dessalegn said. He also added that kaizen is a continuous process and the result of today’s activity has its own impact on future development. Being pioneer you should bring a sustainable transformation in our institution. I can affirm you that the management of the university stand by your side in your activities and give recognition to the best performers, he underscored.
On his part, Ato Mekonen Yahi, Kaizen Institute Director said since its introduction to our country, kaizen has been practiced in both industrial and service giver sectors and brought changes at all levels. Taking these good experiences as basement, the Ethiopian Civil Service University today started the kaizen practice at institutional level.Ethiopian Kaizen Institutecontinuously give its assistance to the university in its activities, Ato Mekonen said. We are working to have our own working and leadership philosophy in harmony with our culture and living styles at national level. For this we hope that the Ethiopian Civil Service University will contribute in its full capacity, he added.
In his report Ato Ayneabeba Andualem , ECSU Reform and Good Governance OfficeDirector pointed out that in accordance with our agreement, Ethiopian Kaizen Institute trained the Directors and more than two hundred staff members. To make our University center of excellence and to facilitate the growth and transformation program we need to apply kaizen philosophy. For this we now started kaizen in six Directorates of the University. In thenear future I firmly believe that we will make it our work culture he added.
W/roSelamawit, Kaizen philosophy trainer, presented a general report on the first level kaizen training activities. During the training time we observed thatthe trainees’initiated and committedfor reform programs. This leads us to the first level of kaizen application, she added. Finally the trainees have pledged to make Ethiopian Civil Service University Center of Excellence in Building the Capacity of the Civil service in Africa by applying Kaizen philosophy. They have also made sanitary campaign in the compound
