ECSU and Gambela City Administration Sign Cooperation Agreement
Ethiopian Civil Service University and Gambela City Administration Signed Cooperation Agreement on November2, 2017 at ECSU Senate Hall.
On the signing program Professor Fikre Dessalegn, Ethiopian Civil Service University president, said ECSU has played its role in building the capacity of the civil servants of Gambela Region for the last two decades and contributed a lot .We are happy that the City Administration selected us to do the Gambela City master plan .Any municipality, from small village to sprawling metropolis can have a master plan base on their city development. So your decision to lead your city by modern and scientific master plan is a great decision and shows your commitment, he underscored.
He added: ’This is not our first project, we have done similar projects for other cities. Based on your City structure, I can say that our professionals will do their best by considering even the rivers crossed the city and apply their creativity.’’
Akane Opad , Mayor of the Gambela City, said ECSU has played its role specially in building the capacity of the Gambela region official and women and we hope this will also continue in the future .Our city master plan became old and now the city administration decided to change by new master plan that accommodate the city prospect of growth in every aspect .
The Gambela City Council developed the comprehensive new Structural Vision of Gambella for the Coming years and decided to have new city master plan. The officials have decided to make the city having advanced mobility options for residents and attractive for visitors. Gambela is important because bridges over both the Baro and the Jajjaba are located in that city and the rivers crossed the city. And we are happy to sign this agreement because this project is one of the most important projects for the city that showed us the smart city of the future he added.
On his part Ato Gebretensay Tesfay , Center for Urban Management and Transformation Training and Consultancy Director, said based on the agreement we can do our best to make the city modern and our professionals also apply their skill and knowledge. Lastly he thanked the region’s president and the city mayor who showed their interest to work with Ethiopian Civil Service University.
