ECSU and PSU sign MOU
Ethiopian Civil Service University and Puntland State University signed MOU to work together on May 24/2017 at Senate Hall. The cooperation and partnership includes specialized education programs in diverse fields, short term trainings and problem solving research, consultancy, and community service in public sector.
At the signing ceremony, President of the Ethiopian Civil Service University Professor Fikre Dessalegn officially welcome the delegate led by Hon Abdirahman Ahmed Abdule, Minister of labor, youth and sport . He expressed his appreciation for the delegation for the interest they have shown to work with the university.
As a university mandated to build the capacity of the public service, we have priorities that we set to work together. By the virtue of our vision to be a leading center of excellence in Africa by 2025, we give priorities to work with African universities especially with the ones focused on public service capacity building. So we are happy to work with you and we want the MOU to be translated in action in the years ahead, said Professor Fikre.
Hon.Abdirahman Ahmed Abdule, Minister of labor, youth and sport and the leader of the delegation, on his part thanked the University for great welcome. He said they very much feel at home when they come here in Ethiopia. He also said, " we have tradition of relationship with Ethiopian people, and Puntland is appreciative of the support that your university gives to our students. We are committed to reform and civil service sector by enhancing the capacity i.e.the knowledge and skills and attitude of civil servants."
Asked as to why they prefer to work with ECSU Hon. Abdirahman Minister of labor, youth and sport said we have been to Kenya, Tanzania in our quest to forge relationship to build the capacity of our civil servants, but in public sector capacity building Ethiopia is ahead. We found Ethiopian Civil Service University the best in the region. He also recalled that some 40 students both in the Bachelor and Mastersdegree programs pursued their education in Ethiopian Civil Service University. So the cooperation is already there. He finally said “we appreciate and thank the Ethiopian Government and the prime Minister and other government officials for the support we get. In particular, we are happy with the cooperation we have with Ethiopian Civil Service University. Thank you for the support you give us," said Hon. Abdirahman.
