Ethiopian Civil Service University celebrated the commencement of the class of 2011 and the promotion of the former ECSC  to university level on July 17, 2011 in the presence of His Excellency Ato Juneidi Sado, Minister, Ministry of Civil Service, the university’s president, vice presidents, senate members, invited guests, academic and administration staff of the University and families of the graduates.

Dr. Hailemichael noted that executing capacity building is one of the key pillars of the Growth and Transformation Plan of Ethiopia. Hence, the Ethiopian CivilService University is doing its level best for effective implementation of the program by opening new programs and supporting the reform works in research and consultancy services.

He added, in its endeavor to adress the shortage of qualified and skilled manpower in the country, especially in regions, in its regular, extension and distance programme the University has so far graduated more than 16, 000 civil servants in diploma, degree and masters programs. More than 40 thousand participants have also take part in short term training programs.

We are also thankful for Federal Bureaus and Regional States, different countries, Government and Non Government Organizations for their support for the success of our programs”

H.E. Ato Juneidi Sado, FDRE Civil Service Minister, in his keynote address expressed his happiness on the promotion of the college to full University level and congratulated the University Community and this year graduates.He added the education and training programs given in the University are highly practice- oriented and interrelated with the development and good governance policies and strategies of the country. So the programs have great role in reaching our objectives by improving the service delivery thereby contributing to the development of the country.

H.E. Ato Juneidi said

" for the last 16 years the Ethiopian Civil Service University has been striving to provide specialized education, training,research and consultancy services that can enable the public service efficiently carry out the development and democratic system objectives of the country by adopting public serving attitude and maintaining integrity in particular and bringing national consensus in the civil service in general."

H.E. Ato Juneidi finally handed over diplomas to the graduating students and gold medals to outstanding students. Some Federal Ministries and all Regional States received merit certificates for their  support to the University for the last 16 years in achieving its objectives. The University also gave certificates to long serving employees in recognition of their services.

Finally, the University community on its own initiative presented special award to the president and vice presidents of the University. It was stated on the occasion that the University Community considered the sincerity of purpose and exemplary leadership they had shown over the past years, which is resulted in the promotion of our college to University.
