ECSU Community Celebrates Community Service Day
Ethiopian Civil Service University Instructors, administration workers and Students Celebrated Community Service Day in different activities on April 25, 2017.
In his opening speech Dr. Birhanu Belayneh, Ethiopian Civil Service University Research and Community Service Vice President welcomed the participants. He in the occasion noted that in addition to their normal teaching learning activities; universities have a role in conducting research and deliver community services. With regard to the aforementioned roles, the Ethiopian Civil Service University, by its research and community service wing, is trying to address the issue of public services through its Center for Research in Public Service Reform and Center for Ethics and Integrity. It is also serving the community through its Community Radio FM 100.5, Dr. Birhanu added. He also mentioned that the day is being celebrated for the first time by the recognition of the university senate and thanked all individuals and offices that contributed for the successful celebration of the event.
On the program W/ro Eden Bushira, Manager for FM 100.5 Community Radio, briefly presented the overall activities and registered outcomes by the Ethiopian Civil Service University Research and Community Service wing. She also highlighted some activities to be done in the future to further extend the services that the Ethiopian Civil Service University delivers to the community at large.
In connection with day, two project proposal designs have been presented by two scholars from ECSU College of Urban Development and Engineering on Landscape Project and Small Scale Solid Waste Disposal and Compost and Nursery Site in the ECSU main campus. The university community has forwarded their comments and suggestions on the presented project design.
Finally the university community has participated on different community service activities including fund raising for Mekedonia center that helps people with mental illness and elderly people, blood donation and planted seedlings in different site of the university.
