ECSU Discusses With Delegation from USA Embassy
Ethiopian Civil Service University (ECSU) president Professor Fikre Dessalegn together with vice presidents held a discussion with a delegation from the Embassy of the USA to Ethiopia on different issues and collaboration areas on February 7, 2023 at ECSU Senate Hall.
Professor Fikre Dessalegn, his introduction of the Ethiopian Civil Service University to the members of the delegate noted that ECSU has a unique mission of building the capacity of the public service and in its twenty eighty years old history insistently worked on human resource development of the country by providing specialized educational programs, short term training, research and community services. He also noted that the university has more than fifty thousand alumni who are serving the countries at different regional and federal offices including ministerial levels and now it becomes a university of choice by more than 2 million public servants.
Dr. Abrham Hagose, Director for Institutional Planning Directorate, presented a brief presentation about the establishment, major achievements and focus areas of the university. He also pointed out some identified collaboration areas with the US universities. According to him, some of the identified collaboration areas focus on technical assistance for the newly established English Language Learning Center, expansion of ECSU community Radio FM 100.5, senior professors who will teach and advice in post-graduate and PhD programs, and connecting ECSU with US universities. Professor Fikre also gave further elaboration on the identified collaboration areas.
Ruth Anne Stevens-Kliz, public Affairs Officer US Embassy and Margaret Henning, Senior Learning Advisor, USAID Ethiopia on their part expressed their pleasure in holding the discussion with ECSU and expressed their hope for further discussions and pave the way for establishing collaboration with US Embassy and US universities.
