ECSU Ethics Liaison Unit Prepares Training On Corruption
Ethics and Liaison Unit of the University conducted a half day training on corruption to the employees drawn from each unit of the university on Friday 6, 2015.
The training focused on what corruption is, what makes corruption differ from other crimes, what causes corruption, how to stop it before it occurs, and what is expected from ECSU employees to fight corruption in every aspect of their work.
The trainer and head of ethics liaison Unit, Ato Gebre Tibebu, said that
"everybody knows about what corruption means, but this training is designed to refresh our knowledge of corruption and the way we fight corruption in every aspect of our life."
Cases were given to the trainees and they discuss on each cases by forming different groups. Each group present their points clearly for the rest of the groups. The training going on by debating on different issues rose from the trainees.
Some of the trainees said that such kind of training creates awareness about corruption among the workers .So it is not to be a one time training ,it should be given frequently in the future on different issues to create deep understanding among the workers.
At the end of the training Ato Gebre said that corruption is both a major cause and a result of poverty around the world. It occurs at all levels of the society. Corruption affects both the poor and the reach nations. So you must apply what you get from this training in your day to day work, said in conclusion.
The Unit also provide trainings to the students in order to fight corruption and discharge their responsibilities of giving ethical and corruption free services.
