ECSU Evaluates the Six Month Plan performance
Ethiopian Civil Service University Academic, Administrative, Research and Community Service and Training and Consultancy wings held two days semiannual work plan evaluation from 03 to 04 January 2017 at Hidase Hall. All ECSU directorate directors, Colleges Deans and higher managements of ECSU have participated on the evaluation.
On his opening speech President of Ethiopian Civil Service University, Professor Fikire Desalegn, welcomed the participants and said as a higher institution the Ethiopian Civil Service University must be a model for other institutions in all aspects. The higher administrative body of the university conducts meeting and evaluates their work in each quarter. We are now here with the same objectiveto evaluating our six month’s activities professor Fikire Desalegn said.
Each and every administrator has to play a role and discharge his responsibility by preparing appropriate work plan,inspecting and assisting the progress, evaluating the status and reporting the result on due time. Based on the report we evaluate the overall activities of the directorates, offices, colleges and centers and set directions for the next work, Professor Fikire Desalegn added. He also mentioned for the last twenty years ECSU has done a lot in building the capacity of the civil servants and contributed to the growth registered by the country. But there are some problems in some institutions in accommodating the demand arise from this development. For this it is important to examine the relevance of the trainings we are giving to the need of the Federal and Regional governments. In addition we also need to seriously examine our teaching and evaluation method and enhance our accessibility to all, professor Fikire Desalegn underscored.
Our country and the federal government expect agreat contribution from this university. To meet this expectation we have to enhance our capacity first. On this meeting, we conduct a clear evaluation; identify our achievements and the problem we faced in the last six months. Based on these reports and discussion, we’ll set directions for our next work plan, professor Fikire Desalegn said.
On the two days evaluation Reform and Good Governance Coordination Office, University Academic wing, Administrative wing, Research and Community Service, Training and Consultancy wings and president’s office presented their respective offices ,directorates ,Centers and Colleges six month work plan evaluation. The house raised different questions and held extensive discussion on the reports presented by each office and directorate and college. Directions have been given to directorates which have lagged behind from their work plan to evaluate themselves properly and set mechanism to achieve their goal.
Finally Ato Tamene Chalchisa, Director for Institutional Planning andAssessment Office, requested the directors and deans to present their evaluation with BSC standards. He also urged reports to be collected from all teams and organized by the directors and finally presented to the office in a due time.
