ECSU hands over Assosa City Structural Plan
Ethiopian Civil Service University handed over the structural plan of Assosa city, prepared by Center for Urban Management and Transformation Training and Consultancy, to the Assosa City Administration on December 22, 2020 at Hidasse Hall. The handover ceremony was attended by senior officials of Asosa City Administration, top management of the university and experts.
In his welcoming speech, Prof. Fikre Dessalegn, Ethiopian Civil Service University president , said Center for Urban Management and Transformation is a strong and active center that is doing a lot of works on urban development. The center has already prepared and submitted structural plan for Gambella city and currently it is preparing a structural plan for Kombolcha town. The center is not only developed new structural plans, but also provided training to improve existing urban setting in different province and effective land management system, Prof. Fikre noted.
He also thanked all the professionals and individuals involved in the project for their efforts and endurance for the successful completion of the project and expressed his firm belief that the city administration will implement the structural plan.
Engineer Biftu Goshu , Head of the Urban Development Sector of Benishangul Gumuz Regional State, on his part expressed his pleasure over the completion of the structural plan, assuring the university community that the plan will be implemented without any delay. He also expressed his great anticipate that the plan solves many problems that exists in the city in relation to the city plan. Besides, he asked unreserved support from the university in the future by further strengthening their relationship.
Ato Gebretinsay Tesfay , Director for Center for Urban management and Transformation, pointed out that the preparation of the structural plan was a very challenging task and explained the problems and challenges encountered during the preparation of the plan and expressed his respect and gratitude to all the experts and professionals who participated in the whole process.
Finally Prof. Fikre Dessalegn handed over the structural plan to Ato Umer Mohammed mayor of the Assosa City Administration.
