ECSU Hold Its Second National Conference
Ethiopian Civil Service University Research and Publication Coordination Office in collaboration with Center for Research in Ethics and Integrity, organized a two days national conference from June-28/2016 in the University`s Hidase Hall.
In his welcoming speech Ato Birhanu Belayneh V/P for Research and Community Service appreciated the organizing committee of the research conference. He also said that the role of research in supporting the ongoing transformation and development is believed to be immense. We academicians are expected to respond and discharge our responsibilities not only as a citizen of the nation but also as professionals.Therefore , ESCU with the mandate of building the capacities of public sectors has been doing its level best to enhance the ongoing all rounded development of the country and contributed a great share for the recorded achievement.
He also pointed out that as part of its ongoing effort to become center for excellence in public services capacity building in Africa by 2015, ESCU has sponsored more than 40 problem solving projects , among these 24 researches output are selected to be presented in this national conference. In his final message he requested all the participants to take this conference as learning and sharing opportunity as well as an avenue to make their opinions that will refine and improve the quality of research output.
Dr. Samson Kassahun V/P for Specialized Educational Programs of ECSU, representing ECSU president, on his part welcomed all the participants to the second national conference on “Public Sector Transformation and Development”. Besides building the capacity of the civil servants, ECSU has organized its research wing and has established two research centers with the objective of doing problem solving and relevant researches on the public service which are important to improve the civil service system Dr. Samson Kassahun said.
He also added that the research papers which are going to be presented in two categories, ”Ethics, Public Service Reform and Capacity Building” and “Development , Public Policy , Governance and Cross Cutting Issues” contribute significantly on the improvement of the civil service reform programs. Besides these research papers will be a base for discussion, participation, and contribution to understand the public service transformation and development in Ethiopia.
On the two days conference 30 research papers on selected research topics were presented by ECSU and other Higher Educational Institutions scholars.
ECSU academic staffs, students, scholars from different higher educational institutions and stake holders participated on the conference.
