ECSU holds Community Service Consultation workshop
Ethiopian Civil Service University held Research and Community Service consultation workshop with Federal and Regional stakeholders on October 6 2017 at Hidase Hall.
In his opening speech, Professor Fikre Dessalegn, Ethiopian Civil Service University president welcomed the stakeholders and mentioned the ECSU contribution in building the capacity of the public sector in teaching, training and consultancy and conducting researches on the demands of the public sector by its research and community service wing. He also mentioned that based on previously conducted Research and Community Service consultation workshop with stakeholders different research and consultancy services have been done onthe identified thematic areas. With the same objectives from this workshop, it is believed that different invaluable and constructive ideas will be raised for a better performance in the future and we indentify common thematic areas with the stakeholders for the nextresearch purpose.
Dr. Birhanu Belayneh, vice president for Research and Community Service, on his part welcomed the participants and underscored the importance of the roles that stakeholders play for the successes of higher education institutions to achieve their goals. With this spirit ECSU by the last academic year conducted the consultation workshop. Based on the input obtained from the workshop, different progresses have been made in research and community service as well as in the teaching learning process. It is also believed that some additional inputs will be obtained from this workshop, Dr. Birhanu added.
On the program an overview of the Ethiopian Civil Service University Research and Community Service activities that have been done since its establishment were presented by Dr.Mekonen Kassahun, Director for Center for Research in Public Service Reforms. In addition presentations on ECSU research activities and outcomes, community service engagements and university industry linkage aspects were presented by ECSU scholars.
The participants on their part expressed their pleasure for taking part on the consultation workshop and raised different comments and ideas and the house thoroughly discussed on them.
