ECSU Holds A Forum With Stake Holders
Ethiopian Civil Service University held a forum with university’s stake holders-Federal and Regional Public Wings on December12, 2014 at the main campus. Civil Service bureau heads of regional governments, representatives of federal ministries and agencies and Yeka and Bole sub city representatives and different organizations in the surrounding Weredas of the University participated in the forum.
In his opening remarks the University president, Dr.Hailemichael Abera ,said that
"public wing participation is crucial in any governmental sectors to strengthen democracy, transparency and accountability .Strong public involvement in governmental sectors increases practical implementation of the organizations` plans. So strengthening the public wings and working closely with them is one of the ECSU plan in this year."
The president also said besides applying change instruments to provide good services to the public, the University organized all staff members under change army team to feel and practice the idea that civil servant is a server of the public in any circumstance.
ECSU has had years of experience specially working with stake holders from planning a curriculum to implementing it. The president said that last year from public wing meeting the university has got a lot of inputs which are included in this year plan.
Ato Tamene Chalchisa, Head of Institutional Planning and Assessment (IPA), presented 2013/14 fiscal year plan implementation and 2014/15 fiscal year plan for the audience. And all stake holders fully engaged by giving valuable comments on the plan and raised different questions that directly related to their organizations and the University.
Ato Musa Ahmed, Benshangul Gumuz Civil Service Bureau Head, appreciated ECSU`s efforts to support the disadvantaged regions – Benshangul Gumiz Regional State is one of the beneficiaries, he said. Ato Musa In addition asked why the University stop giving distance learning.
Different questions and comments rose from different stake holders – Minister of Federal Affairs , Minister of Transport, Minister of Finance and Economic Development and others. Answers were given by management council members and other concerned staff of the university. In the end, the president appreciated all the stake holders and promised to hold such kinds of forums as frequently as possible.
