ECSU Holds a Seminar on Different Programs and Opportunities for Scholars Provided by USA
The U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, in collaboration with Ethiopian Civil Service University, School of Law held a Seminar on different programs provided by US Government for scholars and Academicians on November 2, 2024 at ECSU Hidasse Hall.
Ryan Bradeen, Cultural Affairs Officer at US Embassy in Addis Ababa, emphasized the US cooperation with Ethiopia, especially in the educational and cultural exchanges. He also overviewed the different programs including the Fulbright Program, the Humphrey Fellowship program, the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), and the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders to the University Community.
Ms. Eyerusalem Mandefro,Cultural Affairs Assistant at the US Embassy in Addis Ababa ,explained what the Fulbright Program, the flagship international academic exchange program provides opportunity for students, scholars, teachers, artist and professionals in each year and what the Humphrey Fellowship Program provides to young and mid-career professionals an opportunity to enhance their professional capacities through participation in specialized 10-month non degree programs developed specifically for selected U.S. universities.
Ms.Wubakal Beyene Public Engagement Assistant at the US Embassy in Addis Ababa, also explained the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) program to bring African civic, business, and community leaders for academic coursework, leadership training, and networking at U.S. colleges and universities.
Mr.Teklemichael Tefera, American Spaces Director and Education USA Advisor at U.S embassy in Addis Ababa, notes about Graduate Program study in the United State and the overall higher education system in USA.
At last the participants raised different questions and comments for presenters concerning to the different programs offered by the US government.
