ECSU Inaugurates Campus Based Radio Station
ECSU inaugurated FM 100.5 Campus based radio station in the presence of members of the university and invited guests on November 25, 2014.
The idea of opening radio station first initiated by the university president, Dr. Hailemichael Abera , and financially supported by UNDP, French government ,and UNSCO .
The president in the inauguration said that
"the last 19 years, the university has been working hard to contribute and build capacity and capability of Ethiopian civil service system through specialized education, research, training and consultancy services which focus on the civil service of our country. Today`s inauguration is another mile stone in the development of our university."
The president also said that the radio station create a forum for the students ,faculties , administration staff members and at the same time local government institutions and local community organizations to exchange ideas related to good governance and other issues.
Mr. Eugene Owusu, UNDP residential and humanitarian coordinator, said I am really pleased and proud to be part of this occasion in which together we launch the ECSU community radio station. Through this radio the university has opportunities to broad cast and initiate and discus a wide range of issues including economic, social cultural other diverse topics
Besides this the representative said that
"the university has opportunities to broadcast wide range of issues including diverse topics interest to the community like good governance , challenges of good governance practices as well as action and mechanism for fight corruption and gender equality. "
He also said Ethiopian prepares for election next year; so deepening democracy and strengthening federalism will also be key subjects,
Mr. Eugene finally said UNDP and ECSU had built an institutional partnership for the past two decades. Through this partnership UNDP has had privilege to support leadership program at the university with objective of producing future leaders of Ethiopia.
