ECSU Presents The First Ethiopian State Of Cities Report
State of Ethiopian cities report project validation work shop held at Beshale Hotel, Addis Ababa, from Feb.11-12, 2015.The work shop was prepared by Ethiopian Civil Service University in collaboration with Ministry of Urban Development, Housing and construction.
The objective of the workshop is communicating the key findings and message of the draft state of Ethiopian cities report, getting feedback from the key stake holders, promoting further ownership of the SECR process and providing the platform for sharing experiences among relevant stake holders.
In the work shop, all regional and charted cities administration in the country were represented by their mayors, managers and planners, and regional industry and urban development bureau heads.
Ato Yitbarek Mengiste, Head, Policy Coordination Bureau of Ministry of Urban Development, Housing and Construction and chair person of PSC said
"we are to move from the first growth and transformational plan to the second growth and transformational plan. So this study serves as an input for the second growth and transformational plan."
ECSU ,as a partner, contributed from realizing the implementation of the study to building our capacities. So today we are discussing on the first draft of our study.
At the opening of the workshop ECSU president, Dr. Hailemichael Abera said that
"the state of Ethiopian cities report project will help as a base line survey for registration and documentation of information properly to introduce city development agenda at national level and to design policies and strategies properly."
The state of Ethiopian cities report project is funded by Cities Alliance, managed by World Bank and implemented by Ethiopian Civil Service University with the support and guidance from the Ministry of Urban Development, Housing and Construction.
