ECSU President and GIZ Explore Collaborative Opportunities
Dr. Nigus Tadesse, President of the Ethiopian Civil Service University (ECSU), met with a team from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on September 2, 2025 to discuss potential bilateral cooperation. The discussions focused on exploring opportunities to strengthen ECSU's ongoing training and educational initiatives through collaborative efforts.
Dr. Nigus Tadesse extended a warm welcome to the GIZ team, expressing sincere appreciation for their interest in collaborating with ECSU. He provided a comprehensive overview of the university's current status, underscoring its crucial role in the national reform agenda. Dr. Nigus highlighted that ECSU is currently undergoing a transformative reform aimed at cultivating a highly productive civil service and supporting national efforts to build competent public servants. He also emphasized the university's close working relationship with the Civil Service Commission and detailed various reform initiatives that showcase ECSU's commitment to excellence and national development.
In response, the GIZ team thanked Dr. Nigus for his warm reception and the opportunity to explore a potential partnership. They expressed their keen interest in collaborating with ECSU across three key areas: Fair Administration, Democratic Participation and Civic Education.
Both parties expressed optimism about the potential for a fruitful partnership, envisioning a collaboration that will significantly contribute to strengthening Ethiopia's civil service and advancing the nation's development goals.
