ECSU Signs Memorandum of Understanding with FES
Ethiopian Civil Service University (ECSU) and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly undertake a Book Writing Project, and further mutual cooperation on exchanging of information, academic material and publication on August 4, 2017 at the Senate hall of the university. The Book Writing Project will be a five-year project, to which every year one volume will be published. The first volume to be published early 2018 will be on “Leveraging Electoral Governance in Africa: Normative Conversations”.
Professor Fikre Desalegne, president of ECSU, said writing a book is not a simple task; it needs organized skillful team and commitment. Signing a MoU is not the only goal; we need to see quality output and should do the level best to the standards. Besides, curiosity in all aspect must be at the writer side. We support this project until it finished, he added.
Mr. Constantin Grund, Resident Representative of the FES Ethiopia, said we are grateful for signing this memorandum of understanding (MoU). It strengthens a close collaboration and cooperation of the two entities and expresses my appreciation to ECSU supporting this project.
Dr. Berhanu Beyene, Director of African Institute of Governance and Development of ECSU and the initiator of the book project said we have skillful team and supports from our stake holders so we will do good jobs.
The collaboration will allow, beside the book writing project, to co-organize national, regional and international conferences, workshop, symposia and publishing proceedings as well as collaborate in other activities and programs in areas of mutual interest such as sustainable development, peace building and security development, good governance, rule of law and democracy, regional integration, gender mainstreaming, skills of pastoralism and socio economic transformation.
