ECSU Signs Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IAR
Ethiopian Civil Service University and Institute of Advanced Research signed MoU on December 7, 2015 at ECSU to leverage the existing relationship between the two institutions.
Under the new MOU the two institutions will explore further areas of research collaboration and knowledge exchange, and work jointly to maximize capacity development efforts in the field of diplomacy, development, governance and the rules of law and regional integration as well as Peace and security.
Dr Haile Michael Abera, president of Ethiopian Civil Service University, said “this is very important event in which the two institutions make the initiative to work together to advance their objectives. It is my pleasure to be here and signed the first memorandum understanding between ECSU and IAR on capacity development. “
Dr. Hailemichael added, “This agreement recognizes working together for mutual benefit. It is a move on partnership collaboration to strengthen the work of each other. IAR is our great partner; we will continue this strategic dialogues and joint priority at all level and leverage our shared benefit.’’
Tefera Shawl Kidanekal (Amb. Dr), Executive Director of IAR said “It is a unique opportunity to see that we are beginning the journey of partnership with a very highly dedicative institution like ECSU. Leadership trained by such institution delicate to the development of their countries and regions.
The very sine qua non of IAR establishment was also to work for Peace, development and regional cooperation. So we selected ECSU as partner because this is a ground for tomorrow’s leaderships.’’
Dr Mohammed Abudulahi, Deputy Director of School of Diplomacy and International Relations (SDIR) thanked various bodies of the University and staff of IAR for jointly making the event to happen. He added the MoU sealed a firm cooperation between the institutions to facilitate and guide the intended collaboration of the two institutions.
Based on the agreement the institutions will enjoy a significant strategic partnership to join hands in supporting capacity development in the fields of diplomacy and Peace and security. This move helps establish bilateral relation between the two institutions and strengthen their cooperation and deepen their partnership through better engagement of IAR staff, staff exchange, joint research activities and entrepreneurship for students of School of Diplomacy and International relations of ECSU.
