ECSU Signs Mou With Republic Of South Sudan
The Ethiopian Civil Service University (ECSU, on October 14,2014, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Labour, Public Service and Human Resources Development of The Republic Of South Sudan.
The MOU focuses mainly on capacity building related cooperation areas between the two parties. In addition to providing scholarship opportunities to students from the Republic of South Sudan, ECSU can assist the young nation in ways it can, in the future, establish its own public service training institution, which includes the exchange of staff, sharing of experiences, and mentoring, according to the signed document.
The signing ceremony took place at the Senate Hall of the main campus.
Dr. Hailemchael Abera, President of ECSU, and Hon. Ngor Kolong Ngor, Minister, LPS & HRD of The Republic Of South Sudan, signed the document.
Following the signing of the MOU, Hon. Ngor said
"he was very pleased with the signing of the document, and added that his country highly appreciates the assistance it continues to receive from ECSU in particular, and Ethiopia as a country in general."
Dr. Hailemchael, on his part, also expressed his pleasure at the signing of the document. He added that
"this tie in the area of capacity building could be seen as an example of what is happening, and should continue to happen, as the endeavor towards regional integration in East Africa gathers momentum."
He mentioned regional cooperation authorities like IGAD as further examples of the on-going process.
Present at the signing ceremony were Hon . Akuei Bona Malwal , Ambassador of the Republic of South Sudan to Ethiopia and Djibouti, and Permanent Representative to the AU, IGAD and UNECA, members of the high-level delegation from the Republic of South Sudan, members of the administrative council of ECSU, and representatives of South Sudanese students studying at ECSU.
