ECSU welcomed the 4th Round of female civil servants who are admitted in the special support program from the four emerging regions in collaboration with Ministry of Federal Affairs and Pastoral Area Development in the 2015/16 academic year on October 29, 2015.
Ato kaydake Gezahgn, State Minster for Ministry of Federal Affairs and Pastoral Area Development said I would like to congratulate this academic year prospective graduates and welcome the new comers. He added government of Ethiopia is working to bring females to the leadership role. We want females to be leaders both in the federal and regional level; the best way to do that is empowering them. So the government does a lot of work to empower females; one of them is education. So we need educated women to be a leader in different positions. What we expect from you is to tackle the different problems carefully and be a winner. So study hard and organize yourself to help each other. He underlined that to fight rent seeking, women`s role is great. My office is with you to help you in any way possible, he finally said.
Dr. Hailemichael Aberra in his welcoming speech said knowing ones objective is the beginning of everything. We should ask questions like where am I now and where shall I reach next. This program is designed in line with the government`s human resource development strategies and the efforts to capacitate female civil servants in general and female civil servants in emerging regions in particular so that they play a pivotal role in the development of the nation. This opportunity is given to the disadvantaged regions in a view to bring equitable growth and distribution of wealth throughout the country. He finally urges them to develop the culture of discussion and working in collaboration which is a long standing practice in the university.
I thank president of ECSU, Dr. Hailemichael Aberra, who helped us to start this program in the University. Empowering women to make them a decision maker is one of the basic princples in GTP II. You have two roles: one is updating yourself to fulfil your objectives and the other one is being model to female who are in your region. I Wish you a successful academic year said W/ro Hirut Delebo, Director for Women, Youth and Children Affairs in Federal Affairs and Pastoral Area Development Ministry.
