ECSU's Ethics and Liaison Office Gives Training
Ethiopian Civil Service University Ethics and Liaison Office has given training on Ethics and Anti-corruption to the University's workers and students in two rounds on October 10 and 14, 2011 in the University's main campus Renaissance hall.
In the first round of the training, fifty four employees drawn from Procurement, Finance and Property Administration , Human Resource Management, Estate and General Service, Students Service and Library; and in second round 74 students who are members of Ethics and Anti corruption club of the University participated.
In the Training, a brief explanation was given on what corruption is, its kinds, the possible causes of corruption, and the consequences and manifestations of corruption and impropriety.
After the presentation, the participants divided in to groups and they discussed a variety of issues. The office prepared points for discussions and the participants freely expressed their opinion through their representatives
The discussion points focused on whether they believe there is corruption in the University and, if so, what the common forms are, what measures they can personally take to prevent corruption, and what the Ethics and Anti corruption unit of the University should do to raise awareness on drawbacks and promote ethical activities.
Ato Gebre Tibebu, Head of the Ethics and Liaison Office of the university said
" the objectives of the training was to create ethical and corruption- resistant community in the University and enable the community play pivotal role in the fight against corruption ."
