Ethiopian Civil Service University Colorfully Graduates Students
Ethiopian Civil Service University colorfully graduated 1050 students with Masters and Bachelor degrees on July 1, 2017 at Kotebe campus of the university at the presence of different higher government officials, ambassadors, diplomats, federal and regional administration representatives. Among the graduates two hundred and twenty six are female graduates.
On the graduation ceremony, His Excellency Ato Tagesse Chaffo, Minister of Public Service and Human Resource Development congratulated the graduates, the family of the graduates and the university community and gave working directions to the graduates. He also mentioned that since its establishment the Ethiopian Civil Service University has been discharging its mission in building the capacity of the public sector through its different specialized programs, short term training, consultancy and research and community service. It is also working hard and contributing a lot in upgrading the capacity of the regional public service sectors and human resource development especially for emerging regions, he added. Your contribution is very important to solve the problems of our society and strengthen the development of our country. In order to realize this great objective you must work hard and apply the knowledge and skills you acquired during your stay at the university. You must also have a good work ethics, public serving attitudes and strong stand on fighting rent seeking attitudes, he added.
Professor Fikre Dessalegn, Ethiopian Civil Service University President, on his part congratulated the graduating students. He said that Ethiopian Civil Service University has worked hard to build the capacity of the public sector for the last twenty two years. Based on the need of the sectors it has launched different specialized programs and trained public servants. By this it contributed its role for the development of our country and it is also working hard to be center of excellence in Africa, he added. To increase its accessibility ECSU has prepared an alternative admission programs for female students and students coming from emerging regions and create conducive atmosphere for students with disability. It also planned to expand its intake by opening different weekend, summer and extension programs professor Fikire explained. In his message to the graduates, he urged them to put in practice the knowledge and skills they have gained during their stay at the university and serve the community and their country at large. He also reminded them to be an ambassador for their university by their good service and virtues.
On the occasion Ato Tagesse Chaffo handed out degrees and awards to the graduates and different entertainment programs were presented to the audience. Ethiopian Civil Service University is now providing trainings to over 4,900 students in PHD, masters and first degree programs. Currently it is teaching about two hundred students recruited from ten East African country.
