Ethiopian Civil Service University Community visits EGRD
Ethiopian Civil Service University staff and students visited Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam on June 12, 2014. More than one hundred eighty Academic and Administrative staff and students of the University participated in the visit. The University community in the occasion reiterated to support the GERD till it becomes operational.
Project manager of the GERD, Engineer Simegnew Bekele said in the occasion, "on behalf of the FDRE, I would like to welcome you to your project, Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. We are happy to have you here, you are the capacity to this nation"
Engineer Simegnew also stated that there had been many trials to use River Abay since many years. However those trials changed to reality on April, 2011 when the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi laid the cornerstone of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
The visiting members on their part expressed their appreciation to employees of the project who are working in that kind of bad weather condition. Bonson Alemu is instructor at Institute of Public Management and Development Studies and Head of the Department of Development Management. He said " the employees working here are inspiration for all of us, we have to discharge our responsibility in our respective fields so as to show our solidarity with them. "
W/rt Etseheywot Tadesse from Procurement, Finance and Property Administration Department on her part expressed her delight for visiting the project. I feel I am lucky to be part of this generation. I am ready to support the project in everyway possible.
Mohamed Ahmed, a student from the department of International Law, Institute of Federalism and Legal Studies, said what I have heard from Media and what I have seen here is totally different. I urge my fellow Ethiopian Somali brothers to come and witness the bright future of our country
Ato Gebrehawariat Gebremedehen, one of the coordinator of the visit said that the visit program was a success. He added, "The feeling of the University community is very high; they have visited the dam with a sense of ownership. This demonstrates that our journey to establish one political and economic entity is on the right direction. "
