Ethiopian Civil Service University participates in 8th Ethiopian Urban Forum
Ethiopian Civil Service University participated in 8th Ethiopian Urban Forum which was held from February 15- 21/2019 in Somali Regional State capital Jigjiga. In the forum, more than 150 cities participated. The University was given a place in a pavilion rented by Addis Ababa City Administration and able to display models of urban design and other important statistical information in banners and pictures. Visitors applaud the Universities efforts to support the urbanization efforts in the country.
In the occasion his Excellency Mustefa Mohammed, Vice president of Somali Regional State and Ato Kassahun Goffe, State Minister of Ministry of Urban Development and Construction visited the exhibition and the University`s team explained the programs, success and future plans of the University and what the university is doing through College of Urban Development and Engineering and Urban Development Training Center.
In parallel events in the forum, the University`s professors presented two research papers: "The effects of Public Service Tools Implementation on the Quality of the Public Service delivery", by Dr.Merga Mekuria and Dr. Degu Bekele, and "Assessment of Provision for Economic Empowerment of Women" by Dr. Alemayehu Debebe. The presentations were moderated by Ato Jantirar Abay Minister of Urban Development and Construction and Ato Bezabih Petros, Commissioner for Civil Service Commission and Ato Tazer Gebre Egziabher State Minister of Urban Development and Construction respectively.
Commissioner Bezabih in the occasion said, "Had it not been for Ethiopian Civil service University`s interventions, the urbanization efforts in the country would have failed. We need to acknowledge the university`s contribution." Ato Tazir also said that the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Urban Development and Construction and the University would be intensified hinting on upcoming collaboration agreements. The participants also urged the University to exert efforts and be champion in urban development in the country.
