Gender and HIV/AIDS Issue Directorate organizes Training
Ethiopian Civil Service University Gender and HIV/AIDS Issues Directorate and Human Resource Management jointly organized half day training for ECSU External and Public Relations experts and Community Service Radio journalists on March 23,2019 at the training Hall. The training focused on cross cutting issues in the Medias.
W/ro Abay Akmachew, the trainer and director of Gender and HIV/AIDS Issues Directorate, said that the training helps the experts to have some knowledge on challenges of mainstreaming of cross cutting issues in the media at global, national and university level, and how media experts play their role in reducing the challenges. Experts are always eager and sensitive on the words and expressions while writing or producing different program she added.
The trainees discussed on issues of How the media represent women /boys and girls, persons with disabilities and HIV positive in magazine ,film, drama, advertisements and media. Besides the discussion deeply analyzed the way to what extent the experts understand the crosscutting issues and to what extent the media use neutral words to raise issues of gender, disability and HIV/Aids.
Gender and HIV/AIDS Issue Directorate is mandated to coordinate the mainstreaming of Gender and HIV/AIDS issues in the education, training, consultancy, and research and community services of the University.
