Gender and HIV/AIDS Issues Directorate Gives Training
Ethiopian Civil Service University Gender and HIV/AIDS Issues Directorate gave half day training for 1-5 change army chairmen and secretaries on March 15, 2018 at Diplomacy Hall. The training was organized in connection with the International Women’s Day.
On the training W/ro Abay Akemachew, Director for Gender and HIV/AIDS Issues Directorate, said the training will create awareness on the major objectives of celebrating the international women’s day. According to her the day is celebrated to commemorate the women who fought and scarified themselves for human the democratic right of women in the world. It also helps us to assess the current situations of the matters of gender related issues and plan for a better life of women in the future, W/ro Abay added.
On the program, the prevailing attitudinal problems, harmful traditional practices, violence against women and other related issues were raised as major challenges on the effort to ensure women’s right at different levels. The training believed to enhance the knowledge of the participants on how to prevent these challenges and maltreatments against women and ensure right of women.
The training was delivered by W/ro Abay Akemachew, Director for Gender and HIV/AIDS Issues Directorate and the trainees actively participated by reflecting their ideas and comments on the topics raised during training session.
The International Women’s Day was celebrated for forty two times at the national level on March 8, 2018.
