Gender and HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Directorate Gives Training
The Ethiopian Civil Service University Gender and HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Directorate gave awareness raising training to ECSU staff on October 28, 2020, at Hidasse Hall. The main purpose of the training was to give the university community a deep sight on gender and disability related issues and the importance of mainstreaming and affirmative action.
On the training, Ato ZinabeTadesse, ECSU Gender and HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Directorate Director, said gender and disability affair is a matter that requires the community’s attention and working together on filling the gap on knowledge and attitude towards the issue. In addition policies and laws must consider persons with disabilities when they are designed and ratified.
He also underscored the importance of mainstreaming them by focusing on capacity building from the community's core objectives and providing affirmative action focusing on empowering and supporting women and people with disabilities and need to be supported by budgeting in the future. Besides crosscutting issues will include in higher education curriculums.
