HAMU Offers a Training
Ethiopian Civil Service University HIV/AIDS Management Unit offered a day long training to 42 students drawn from Masters and Undergraduate programs of IUDS, UMMP, ITCA and IPMDS on June 16 2011.The Role of Students in Response to HIV and AIDS in the Public Sector was the main theme of the training.
The training has the objective of equipping the participants with facts about HIV and AIDS prevention, care and support, examining how socially destined gender roles influence HIV and AIDS transmission, prevention and care, discussing the role of ECSU students in the fight against HIV and AIDS through mainstreaming in the public service and establishing forum and group trainees for future partnership and cascade the knowledge and skills gained from the training.
Dr. Hailemichael Abera president of the University sent a massage to the participants through Ato philipos Petros, HIV /AIDS Management Unit head. The president in his massage said
" HIV and AIDS is one of the major obstacles of development and public service delivery if its response is left for a single sector. To this end, the Ethiopian government has been aggressively engaged in responding to the epidemic through integrated multi-sectoral approach. "
Accordingly, the ECSU’s Community, including students have great role to play in preventing, controlling and mitigating the epidemic in the work place, said Dr. Hailemichael.At the end of the training the participants established a forum and designed action plan for future collaboration in the effort to reach the public servant at grass root level.Ato Anteneh Mekonnen Ms. Farida Nantume and W/r Abay Akemachew have given the training.
