HAMU Provided Training on “Basics of HIV/AIDS” to Students of Admas University
HAMU provided half day training for 42 students of Admas University enrolled in Megenagna Campus on April 24, 2015. The Dean of Students of Admas University, Mr. Getaneh, also attended the training with his students.
The training started by question and answer session; the questions were designed to assess the trainees comprehensive knowledge on HIV/AIDS. Trainees participated by reflecting their views during this session. Some gaps were identified regarding trainees’ comprehensive knowledge on HIV/AIDS; these gaps were then filled during the half day training.
The areas covered by this training include introducing and discussing the basic facts about HIV/AIDS, the major channels of HIV transmission, its prevention mechanisms and how to provide care and support for people infected/affected by HIV.
Mr. Getaneh and a couple of students were actively participating by posing misconceptions related to HIV/AIDS. They commented that such types of trainings need to be provided on continuous basis and follow ups should be made to assess progresses.
The training was delivered by Ms. Kumneger Fikre, Social Mobilization and Mainstreaming Expert of HAMU.
