HAMU Provides Training on “Basics of HIV/AIDS and Work place Interventions” to Administration Staff
HIV and AIDS Management Unit of ECSU gave half day training for 53 ECSU Administration Staff drawn from different department of the university on January 15, 2015. Among the participants of the training, 15 of them were male and the rest 38 were females. The objective of the training was making the university staff responsive to the different workplace HIV/AIDS intervention programs through providing comprehensive knowledge on the basics of HIV/AIDS and workplace contexts.
The training believed to enhance trainees knowledge on how to protect and prevent themselves and others from HIV/AIDS/ Reproductive Health Problems. The participants reflected the benefit of the training by relating to their past and present experiences and suggested that HAMU should provide HIV/AIDS awareness workshops and capacity building trainings to ECSU community.
Head of HAMU, Ms.Wubalem Arefaine gave opening speech and underlined importance of such training to building capacities of public service in general to the university community in particular. She added that HAMU will continue its hands-on-training as per the plan and that trainees are expected to cascade the training in their daily life (personal and workplace) and reach more peers and staffs of the university community.
The training was delivered by HAMU’s Training and Research Coordination officer Mr. Anteneh Mekonnen.
