Institute of Leadership and Good Governance /ILG / Accepted Its First Batch of Students
Ethiopian Civil Service University Institute of Leadership and Good Governance admitted students and began operation on January 2, 2011.Sixty eight students, eight of whom are female, registered for the courses.
Dr.Waqgari Negari director of the Institute told EPRD that before the class kicked off the Institute put in order orientation to the students. The orientation included among others some highlight of curriculum, teaching and mentoring, co-curricular activities, internship, assessment and student interactions.
According to Dr. Waqgari, Honorable Dr. Hailemichael Abera President of ECSC briefed the students about the context of Leadership and Good Governance inline with the Growth and Transformation Plan of the country.
He added Dr. Hailemichael reiterated in the occasion that the program is unusual and it needs some sort of creativity and commitment from the part of the students.
Dr. Waqgari also said due to the nature of the program, guest speaker session is arranged and the Thursday’s sessions are saved for this purpose. Guests from inside and out side of the University will be invited to give academic and professional speeches face to face ,and using Wereda Net video conferencing technology .
Dr. Waqgari said in conclusion
"everything goes in order: we organized a resource center with up to date and modern books, arranged offices and classrooms, deployed teaching and admin staff. In addition to this, in the coming days co curricular clubs will be organized and students are needed to participate in the clubs. "
