IUDS Launches Internship Workshop
Ethiopian Civil Service University Institutes of Urban Development Studies launched internship program for 2016/17 academic year on October 28, 2016 at Hidase Hall.
At the opening of the workshop, Dr. Daniel Lerebo Director for Institutes of Urban Development Studies, said internship program plays very important role in acquiring practical knowledge through practice and helps the students to be familiar with the practical world. It also helps the mentees to build their skills, knowledge, attitudes and work discipline from experienced professionals and leaders working at federal, regional and local organizations. This internship program will be helpful to create university- industry linkage Dr. Daniel underscored.
On the workshop Dr. Frew Mengistu vice Director for IUDS master program, presented an overview of the institution briefly. In his presentation Dr. Frew Mengistu pointed out that the institution has been restructured under a College of Urban Development and Engineering and constitutes under graduate, masters and PHD programs. He also explained all the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders, mentors, mentees and coordinators to facilitate the internship program to meet its goal.
Participants of the workshop, on their part expressed their pleasure and thanked the organizers of the workshop. The workshop clearly stated the responsibility of all stakeholders. It will also contribute to discuss on different problems and create information exchange mechanisms among the stakeholders. The mentees on their part have to adjust themselves with the environment and take challenges they may face, as a lesson and exploit all opportunities, the participants added.
