Leadership for Reform
“Leadership for Reform”, a two-day workshop, was conducted on March 27 and 28, 2013 at Ethiopian Civil Service University. The workshop brought together heads of different institutes and departments of ECSU.
The training was given by Martin Barnes and Sue Treharne who came from the National School of Government in the UK.
Martin Barnes, Associate Programme Director with the National School of Government, speaking about the aims of the workshop said
" the workshop aims to provide opportunities for the participants to explore the knowledge, skills and behaviour needed to achieve effective leadership at all levels throughout ECSU so that the university can have better contribution to the country’s Civil Service Reform."
The workshop also aims to create a forum for the participants to share their successful experiences. According to Barnes, it is also expected to build the capacity of the leaders to support their staff in particular and ECSU in general to be able to move at pace with change.
The workshop discusses on Alignment with GTP-and stories of success in Ethiopian Civil Service, characteristics of high performing organization and organization self assessment exercise, introducing Leadership Development Dimensions Inventory, understanding self and others and Ethiopian stories of innovation and change among others
