Orientation Held for 2018 E.C. Freshman Students at EPSU
Ethiopian Public Service University (EPSU) held an orientation program for newly assigned freshman students for the 2025/26 academic year on October 18, 2025, at the Abay Hall.
During the opening session, EPSU President Dr. Nigus Tadese extended a warm welcome message to the students and elaborated on the distinct features that make EPSU unique among Ethiopian universities. He highlighted that the University, now in its 30th year of establishment, has become one of the few institutions offering programs from undergraduate to postgraduate (Master’s and PhD) levels. Dr. Nigus also noted that EPSU provides scholarship opportunities to students from neighboring countries and, in this academic year alone, has admitted 32 international students.
He further explained that starting from the 2025/26 academic year, EPSU has officially been designated as an Applied University under a new institutional restructuring and, for the first time, is admitting students directly from the Ministry of Education’s placement system for preparatory (12th grade) students.
Dr. Nigus urged the students to make the most of their stay at the University, emphasizing that “the development of a nation depends on educated and responsible citizens.” He encouraged them to stay committed and focused on their studies from the very first day.
Following the President’s address, detailed briefings were provided by university officials regarding EPSU’s academic programs, program selection procedures, the Student Success Suite (SSS), the Five Million Coders Initiative, library and other support services available on campus.
Finally, Dr. Lemma Gudissa, Vice President for Academic Affairs, reminded students that the University is always ready to assist them with any academic-related issues during their stay, reaffirming the University’s commitment to supporting their success.
