The President Commends the University for its Efforts to Support Neighboring Countries
Ethiopian Civil Service University graduated more than 1150 students with Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral Degrees on 19th July 2014 in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Mulatu Teshome, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
The University graduated six PhD students for the first time since its establishment.
Dr. Mulatu Teshome, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in the occasion said he is honored to attend the graduation ceremony and be able to convey a message.
Dr. Mulatu further said
"ever since the introduction of federal system in which all nations nationalities and people`s of the country have been participating actively, policies, strategies and programmes which could ensure social and economic transformation have been set out and implemented; and tremendous achievements have been registered. "
The University has been instrumental in the implementation of the Civil Service Reform Programmes by providing specialized educational programmes and training and consultancy services, the president added.
Dr. Mulatu appreciated the University for providing scholarship for Somaliland and South Sudan Civil Servants and urged the University to continue its commendable efforts of assisting the neighboring countries in particular and African countries in general in their human development efforts.
Dr. Mulatu finally reaffirms the support of the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the University in all ways possible.
Dr. Hailemichael Abera, President of the University on his part said
"the University has been supporting the government efforts to improve the civil service sector by opening new programmes, strengthening the training and consultancy services and conducting problem solving researches."
Dr. Hailemichael indicated that the University has graduated over 26,000 civil servants that contribute to the transformation drive of the country.
Dr. Hailemichael also said the University gives special attention for disadvantaged people, and it has got recognition from the United Nations and awarded a Public Service Award for its efforts in Promoting Gender Responsive Delivery of Public Service.
In his message to the graduates, Dr. Hailemichael said " when you go to your respective institutions, you should serve the public with full integrity and act as a reform agent.
Somaliland Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mr. Mohamed Behi Yonis expressed his appreciation to all Ethiopian and the University. He said,
" the integration between Ethiopia and Somaliland students can definitely create cultural exchanges among the two societies."
The University graduated six students with Doctoral Degrees 669 students with Masters Degrees, and 479 students with Bachelor Degrees, Some 234 of them are female.At the end of the programme, students pledge to serve the public with integrity and devoid of corruption and mal administration.
