RCS Holds Annual Consultation and Research Validation Workshop
Ethiopian Civil Service University Research and Community Service Division held two days annual stakeholders consultation and research validation workshop from 13 to 14, January 2021 at Abay Hall.
The major objectives of this workshop are to identify thematic areas for problem solving research by discussing with stakeholders, sharing ideas on the research undertaken and strengthening the relationship and working together with the stakeholders and representatives from both federal and regional institutions and city administrations participated on the workshop.
In his opening address, Dr. Alemayehu Debebe, Vice President for Research and Community Services, welcomed the participants and said that ECSU has prepared ten year strategic plan. In line with this and with new vision, Research and Community Service Division has also prepared the team for further enhancement in research and community services in the next ten years. It has established a research resource center and is building its capacity from different aspects. In addition, it is disseminating the researches undertaken so far by using journals to the public. Currently, fifty seven research works are being done by the university scholars and researchers in different thematic areas, Dr. Alemayehu added.
He also called up on the participants to exert their at most efforts to put into practice the research done in their respective institutions and expressed ECSU’S readiness to work in collaboration with them by exchanging information and providing professional supports.
On the workshop seven research papers were presented and participants discussed and forwarded their comments and suggestions on the paper presented by the researchers. They also proposed some research thematic areas that they need to be studied in the future. In this regard, they proposed issues like problems related with the implementation of JEG, the practical needs of the country and the areas that the students are being graduated from public universities, employees’ occupational health and safety, migration, problem in both urban and rural land management, human resource development and human resource mobilization, the effectiveness of researches undertaken etc. were proposed by the participants.
On the program, Dr. Mekonnen Kassahun and Dr. Mulugeta Worku Director for Center for Public Sector Reform Studies and Center for Ethics and Integrity respectively briefed the participants the roles and responsibilities of their respective centers and the challenges they are facing in their research works. They also called upon the participants to further strengthen their relations with the centers and work together hand in hand with the centers’ researchers for their common goal.
