Reform Army Meetings are Said to Contribute to the Work Ethics of the Employee
Ethiopian Civil Service University Academic, Administrative and Management support Units employees held Reform Army Assessment meeting on March 20, 2015 in the University’s Abay hall. The meeting emphasized on attitudinal changes being witnessed with respect to fulfilling the University`s vision and mission.
All the support units presented their account of Reform Army performance. In their report many of them expressed that significant changes have been registered in relation to fighting rent seeking attitudes and its manifestations. However, a lot needs to be done in order to develop anti rent seeking attitudes, according to their report.
After the presentations presidents of the University have given directions on what the Reform Army meetings focuses should be. Ato Gebrehawariat Gebre Medhen, Vice president for administration and development, said in the occasion that
"the University Management recognized the support services importance in achieving the University`s plans."
He also said Reform Army meetings have contributed positively in building the work ethics of the employees. How ever, some people are trying to hide the problems occurred in their work places. Hiding problems doesn`t help the individual and the University, so in all the meetings much emphasis should be given to bring attitudinal changes, said Ato Gebrahawariat.
Ato Birhanu Belayneh, Vice president for Research and Community Services on his part said, as an institution which works to build capacities, such kinds of meetings are important. He expressed his appreciations for the University community for their concern to the development of the University which was clearly demonstrated in their opinions. In conclusion he said,
" We can`t perform our job properly unless we change our attitudes."
Dr. Hailemichael Abera , president of the University in conclusion said the management council and support services will hold meetings every month. The Reform and Good Governance Office will facilitate such kinds of capacity building forums. Through this office, leaders of different sections of the University will be given trainings to capacitate them so that they could discharge their leadership role effectively. Dr. Hailemichael added, in our Reform Army meetings we should be disciplined in everything we do. Our agendas should focus on how effectively we are performing our job in meeting our plans and how we are changing with respect to fighting rent seeking and gaining attitudinal changes. He finally said," If we do this, we will meet our target of becoming prosperous nation. "
